Get to know Shae Jaqueline more and about her journey and her love and passion for fitness.
Where are you from?
I grew up in Tucson, AZ & San Diego, CA, but I currently reside in San Jose, CA
2) What is your favorite food? Why?
I am a foodie! I love to eat and try new foods, which means I am not picky at all! However, my go-to is ALWAYS spaghetti. When I have cheat meals, spaghetti (with meat sauce and Italian sausage) is what I want/crave. It is also tradition for me to eat a huge plate of spaghetti every year on my birthday! It seems a bit strange, but my mom who is part Italian, makes hers from scratch. Nobody’s spaghetti tastes like hers, but I’ve been eating it since I was a baby and it will forever be my favorite!
3) What is your favorite workout in the gym? Why?
I have always loved training shoulders and back, but shoulders have always been my number one. My greatest feature has always been my shoulders, which makes them more fun to train!
4) How many times do you work out in a week?
On a good week, I train 5-6x a week with a day or two of rest. With a career like mine, it is difficult to have enough energy to train as hard as I would like. However, training only goes so far. It is your diet that matters the most. So, on days that I cannot train, at least I know I am still being good to my body by eating clean!
5) How long have you been into fitness?
Fitness has been a part of my life since my senior year in high school (2007-2008), because that is when I started getting serious into mentally and physically preparing myself to join the Air Force. I would run every morning and weight train at night. While in the Air Force, I was labeled as a Physical Training Leader (PTL) and would help other Airman get their fitness level up. Throughout my military career, as well as after I left active duty, my fitness journey was up and down due to school and life events. But I have ALWAYS loved taking care of myself and being fit, happy, and healthy!
6) What workouts do you enjoy?
I’m sure we went over this alreadyback and shoulders! How about workouts that I dislike, but still do? Leg days are my least favorite, because I have to carb up for energy and leg workouts are hard! Also, nobody actually likes doing cardio and I tend to fall into that category as well.
7) Have you ever competed before? If so, when?
No, I have not. However, from 2014-2015 I busted my butt to train for a show in San Francisco at the end of 2015. Unfortunately, a few months before stepping on stage I had to move to Florida. I tried getting back into training to compete, but my life is very fast-paced and there are times where it seems almost impossible to train for a show. It takes a lot of dedication and FOCUS! But yes, I would like to get back into it and do it at least ONCE!
8) What do you like about Legacy Built Apparel?
I have yet to try on the actual apparel myself, but I love the simplicity of it with logos and quotes. Also, the styles of the tops for women are really nice, which is what I would love to sport! By analyzing social media and small interaction with the owner, I can already feel the positive vibes that LBA portrays. Not to mention, it is based out of my home-state of Arizona, which I will support any and every thing out of!
9) Do you like to travel?
Absolutely. Who doesn’t? I wish I could travel more, but my mindset (while I am still young) is to work hard now and play later. I want to have an out-of-this-world retirement! I believe that young people don’t tend to think as far ahead as retirement, which is so important! That doesn’t mean I’m never going to travel, but I’m saving the best for my golden days!!
10) Do you like to do cardio before or after your workout? Why?
Well, usually I do cardio after lifting, which you should to burn more fat and less muscle. I’ve tried to do cardio before lifting, but I have a tendency to tell myself that upon completion of cardio, I’ve already done my workout and I go about my day! That. Is. Not. Okay. Overall, cardio after lifting is always the way to go!
